Micro:bit Champions 2026

I had the privilege of becomming a Micro:bit Champion this year, and attended my first regional meeting. Now when I say regional, I don’t mean ‘South East’ or ‘Midlands’… this region was rather bigger and spanned the whole of Europe, Africa and the Middle East! So it was absolutely fantastic to join with fellow Micro:bit enthusiasts from around the world and talk ideas, teaching, AI, all kinds of things.

I was able to share my Micro:bit & Crumble combination project: MiCrumBit!

And also my free teaching unit on AI, which uses the Create AI feature of Micro:bits.

There were so many great ideas, from a noise meter for the classroom using LED strips, to accessibility tools which helped moved a computer mouse, to fitness and exercise monitors. Truly inspirational hearing how the humble Micro:bit is opening doors for students (and teachers!) around the world.

It was great to see Nic Hughes in the room, the guy who first introduced me to Physical Computing (Never looked back since!) and Matt Hewllett who I’ve worked with at Digit<all> on some amazing climate/ eco based Micro:bit projects, in particular the Spider Silk project.

I’m very proud to be a Micro:bit Champion, and will display my badge with pride!

Let me know what you’ve done with your Micro:bits?
